Bounce Swing Festival! The second edition will be April 17–19, 2020. A weekend of big emotions with lindy hop and balboa workshops, special evening events, five pairs of international teachers, live bands, and many dancers with whom you can share the joy of the festival, which we predict will be amazing.

Six hours in total for each level, divided in 4 thematic classes. It will be possible to choose classes from your own specified level and lower. There are 4 Levels: Improvers, Intermediate, Advance and Invitational. To the latter it is possible to have access (subject to availability) by sending us an email with a description about you and about your swing experience.

Up to 12 hours of classes, with the option “create your own pack”, where you can choose which class to follow based on the topic and the level you are mostly interested in.

It’s a really simple thing to do, but you can always choose the FULL LEVEL option and you will take part to the classes that suits you the most with just a simple click.

 

How to “CREATE YOUR PACKAGE”:

  1. CHOOSE HOW MANY HOURS OF CLASSES YOU WANT TO FOLLOW: 1 CLASS (1.5 h), 2 CLASSES (3h), 4 CLASSES (6h), 6 CLASSES (9 hours) or 8 CLASSES (12h).
  2. IDENTIFY YOUR LEVEL: read carefully  the descriptions of the different levels and choose the most suitable one for you.This level will be the basis to compone your pack (you can choose classes for your selected level or lower, NOT superior).
  3. PICK YOUR CLASSES: for each hour and a half of class teachers, level and topic that will be explored, are indicated are indicated in the schedule.
  4. POLISH THE SHOES AND PREPARE FOR DANCING! Now it’s a down deal!

WHAT IS MY LEVEL?

There will not be any audition for the admission to the different levels. It is, therefore, very important that you choose the level that suits you.

In order to choose your level, read the sheet below carefully.

In case of doubt, ask your own teacher who will advise you properly.

Festival levels are slightly different from the level of the weekly courses you follow at your own dance school, and they are different from festival to festival.

You have been attended a regular class for at least 6 months 1 year ; you are familiar with the basic moves, both eight and six counts, such as Swing out, lindy circle, tuck turn, and you show them on social dance. You want to improve your basics and add new moves to your repertoire.

You have been dancing for at least one-two years, and you attend regular classes and parties. You can lead the more basic moves such as Swing out, Texas Tommy, inside turns, outside turns, lindy-charleston basic, tandem, hand to hand. If you follow, you show off your swivels every time you can. You are starting to improvise on the music and adding jazz steps. You want to enhance your leading and/or following technique, and you are beginning to work on your musicality and interpretation. 

You have regularly been dancing for at least three years, and you attended national and international festivals and workshops. You can easily dance on any rhythms (slow and fast), and you improvise on the music.  Your lead and follow clear and smooth, and you know different variations.You can’t count the number of lindy hop and jazz moves, you know. You want something more than the simple steps and styling, and you want to work on advanced techniques, musicality, and improvisation. In this level, the dance and the technique in a more complex and demanding ways. 

You have been regularly attending Balboa classes for at least six months to 1 year. You can lead/follow: Single Time (down holds) and Double Time Basic (up holds), Come Around, Lollies, Out And Ins.  You have developed the right balance and don’t need to hold on to your partner for balance. You can keep a steady pulse, also on the slows. You can dance the basics on the spot and travelling. You want to improve your basics and add new moves to your repertoire.

You have been regularly attending Balboa classes for at least 1-2 year. You are comfortable to lead and follow the basic (down holds and up hold) and Throw Out, Inside Turn, Outside Turns, Reverse Turn, Twist Breaks, Paddles, Crab Walks.  You start to use footwork variations like Shuffles and Kicks, and you can use them in social dance. You can switch effortless between Pure Bal and Bal-Swing in a dance.

You have been regularly attending Balboa classes for at least 3 years, and you attended at various national and international festivals and workshops. You feel comfortable both in pure balboa and in Bal Swing.  You can dance in every tempo. You can do footwork variations like Fans, Toe Turns, Hesitations, and Kick Ball Changes. You can shuffle and multi-shuffle on various beats. You can play with rhythmical changes. In this level, the dance and the technique in a more complex and demanding ways.

        It’s time to introduce color in your dance with some fun moves!
      • Music is your partner with Alba and Gas                                                                       
        “When you are dancing with your partner[..] It’s a love affair between you and your partner and the music.” – (Frankie Manning). In this class, you will work on how to build a better relationship with your partner.
      • Power your Swing out (make your Swing out easy) with Fancy and Nejc
        We will work on the most loved and difficult move to make it smooth and straightforward.
      • Mix the basics -6, 8 counts and Charleston with Alice and Felipe.            
        Learning how to lead and follow by changing your 6 counts, 8 counts and charleston rhythms in social dance.
                                     
      • “Pump up you basics” with Alice and Felipe
        It’s the end of the song, and you don’t know what to do? Want to hit that break in a cool way? Come to this class to learn a couple of useful tricks.
      • “Play with the band” with Alba and Gas
        It’s all about jazz! Learn how to be one of the musicians and jam with the rest of the swing band!
      • “Enjoy your Charleston” with Fancy and Nejc
        Learn to relax on fast song with some good old fashion kicking.
      • “Express yourself in any figure” with Alba and Gas
        Bored to look always the same as everybody else in the room? Learn how to create your own style and shine on the dancefloor
      • “Slow your Lindy hop” with Alba and Gas
        We are going to slo-mo your lindy hop to get a new approach to dance slow tempos.
      • “Fast and swing out!” with Alice and Felipe
        We will go into technical details on how we like to swing out fast.
      • “Keep the flow” with Fancy and Nejc
        We will work on keeping the flow going throughout each move, and you will discover how flow can make you more creative.
      • “In love with new rhythm” with Alice and Felipe
        We will play and learn Rhythmical variations, syncopation, and breaks to use both with your partner or alone.
      • “Have fun in pure Balboa” with Sanna and Adam
        Join us for an exploration of basics, footwork, and posture in Pure Balboa to help you feel more comfortable in social dance.
      • “Throw out and variations” with Alba and Gas
        In this class, we will teach tips and tricks that will make your basic throw out easy and fluid, and we will introduce some cool variations.
      • “Rotation without hesitation” with Sanna and Adam
        Managing your spin, learn how to add turns in already known figures, how to make them work, and how to accentuate the rotation in basic figures without disturbing your partner.
      • “We love Lollies!” with Diana and Roberto
        Our teachers will guide you to discover one of Balboa’s most iconic movements through variations for leaders and followers.
      • “Toss out and variations” with Sanna and Adam 
        We will reveal to you some of the many variations that can be made starting from the Toss Out.
      • “Make your Bal swing more interesting” with Diana and Roberto
        You will learn how to create flow and dynamic with your bal dance figures to make it more exciting and funny
      • “Transition makes the dance” with Fancy and Nejc
        The transition from one line or step to another is where authentic dancing can occur!  Thinking about how to connect movements is a more mature concept than basic vocabulary, alignment, or coordination.
      • “Playing with different footwork in pure Balboa” with Sanna and Adam
        Sanna and Adam footwork will allow you to play more with the music and will make your Balboa very attractive.
      • “Texas Tommy in Bal-Swing” with Fancy and Nejc
        We will learn all the secrets of a perfect Texas Tommy and how to use it in your dance.
      • “Maintain rhythm and flow at high tempos” with Sanna and Adam
        Manage your dynamic and balance to create and maintain rhythm and flow at high tempos.
      • “Play with momentum” with Sanna and Adam 
        It’s time to learn to use the momentum to create stretch, speed, and connection.

The 2020 Bounce Swing Festival will take place at Hotel Terme Millepini in via Catajo 42, in Montegrotto Terme. We are in the heart of the Euganean Hills Regional Park, known all over the world for its landscapes, its food and wine delicacies but above all for its
extraordinary spas.
The hotel will host all the parties and
classes, and is about one km away from the railway station “Terme Euganee Abano-Montegrotto Terme”. The Hotel Spa offers many facilities: thermal water swimming pools,

jacuzzis, Kneipp path, a grotto with natural thermal vapors, aromatherapy showers and much more. A great opportunity to relax and pamper yourself after workshops, parties and all the dancing!

Those who are coming from Milano in the direction towards Padova, Brennero Padova, take the exit Padova Ovest. Follow the ring road before entering the highway A13 towards Bologna. Take the exit Terme Euganee, then follow the signs for Montegrotto Terme (Km 3 approximately).

For those who are coming from Venezia-Trieste towards Padova, enter the highway A13 towards Bologna and take the exit Terme Euganee. Follow the signs for Montegrotto Terme (Km 3 approximately).

From Milano via Verona

Get off at the train station of Terme Euganee Abano- Montegrotto Terme. From the station, you can take a taxi to the Hotel (Km 1 approximately).
